“Unless we examine the metaphors in the Bible, we are only skimming the surface.”

Marilyn Delinois

Welcome

If you are a student of the Bible, seeking a deeper understanding of its texts and not content with just skimming their surface meanings, then you’ve come to the right site. Welcome!

Marilyn Delinois, a theologian and Bible teacher brings a unique and deep insight into difficult-to-understand Bible passages through the lens of typology, metaphors, and symbolism. Marilyn understands that the Bible is saturated with metaphors and symbolism in which Christ’s presence is shrouded and His mission of redemption is prefigured.

Marilyn is gifted with uncommon insight and exegetical examination of the Bible and brings a Christ-centered approach to Bible study. With a passion for the Word of God, she helps her readers see Christ throughout the Bible and provides a fresh perspective on challenging Bible passages.

The Fruit on The Tree of Calvary

Why did Jesus instruct us to “eat His body and drink His blood?” (Matt 26:26-29) Jesus referred to Himself as though He were food (Jn 6:55 NIV). Obviously, it is a metaphor. Throughout His ministry, Jesus often used metaphoric language and likened Himself as the bread of life (Jn 6:35), life giving water (Jn 4:14), the light (Jn 8:12), Shepherd (Jn 10:14a), to name a few. When Jesus invites us to eat His body and drink His blood, He is using a metaphor to draw our attention to a parallel...read more

The Amazing Cicadas And The Song of Resurrection

THE LIFE OF A CICADA This group of Cicadas is known as Brood X (Brood 10). They are the largest in number of all the Cicada groups and emerge from their burial site (base of a tree) every 17 years. Their emergence is synchronized, and they appear by the billions. At the 17th year mark, they climb out from underground as mature nymphs, climb up the tree under which they were buried and feeding; they shed their shell covering (exoskeleton) and are transformed...read more

Two Lives Intersecting: Jairus and the Woman With The Issue of Blood

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the resurrection of Jairus’ daughter. To fully understand the scope and meaning of this miracle, it is essential to go beyond the surface narrative and dive deep into the text and examine the most minute details. INTERSECTING LIVES We cannot read the story of Jairus’ sick daughter and not spill over into the story of the woman with the issue of blood and vice versa. These two stories have often been seen as two separate miracles and stories. However, using the...read more
